Allamakee County welcomes you to the Driftless Area of northeast Iowa. This unique geographic location of bluffs and rolling hills owes its beauty to the fact that glaciers have never scoured this area clean and smooth. To learn more about Allamakee County click here.
It has been 40 years since RAGBRAI has come through our county and we welcome you back with open arms. Much has changed, but much has remained the same. The towns of Waukon and Lansing have grown and shifted in their centers of opportunity. Waukon is still the administrative center of the county but is also an agribusiness concentration for the primary economic driver of our county – farming. Lansing, with its proximity to the Mississippi River, is becoming the tourism hub for northeast Iowa. Water sports, hunting, fishing, the beauty of it’s landscape and the historic downtown district all add up to a wonderful experience for the visiting traveler.
